OTPčelinjak – a project that brings nature back to life
OTPčelinjak is a unique project created through the collaboration between the Plan Bee team and OTP banka Hrvatska, with a clear objective — to actively protect bees, restore biodiversity, and build a sustainable future for beekeeping and nature. This is not a symbolic initiative, but a real apiary that contributes daily to ecosystem restoration and the strengthening of bee populations.
Located within our Bee Park, OTPčelinjak represents a living example of how responsible action can have a tangible and long-term impact on nature. Visitors have the opportunity to see the project firsthand, meet real bee colonies, and understand the vital role they play in preserving ecosystems.
Through this project, we are developing a modern, sustainable, and technologically advanced apiary that connects nature, knowledge, and innovation. We produce young bee colonies — nuclei — which form the foundation of healthy and resilient beekeeping; we plant nectar-rich vegetation to ensure a stable food source for pollinators; and we actively support beekeepers whose colonies have suffered losses due to pesticides and other threats.
Every new hive means more life — more pollinated plants, more food, and a more stable ecosystem.
Real results, real impact
OTPčelinjak has already achieved concrete and measurable results:
new beehives
bee colonies (nuclei)
new pollinators
pollinated flowers
A Fusion of Nature and Technology – The Future of Beekeeping
OTPčelinjak represents a new generation of beekeeping. The hives are equipped with advanced sensors that monitor temperature, humidity, weight, and bee activity in real time, while solar systems ensure energy independence and minimal environmental impact.
By leveraging digital technology and artificial intelligence, we gain deeper insight into the needs of bee colonies, enabling timely responses and ensuring optimal conditions for their development and survival.
In this way, we are creating a model of smart, sustainable, and responsible beekeeping — one that protects nature while building a safer future.
More Than a Project — An Experience You Can Live
OTPčelinjak is not merely a concept — it is a real and active part of our Bee Park. Visitors have the opportunity to see the hives, learn about the apiary’s operations, and experience firsthand how a project can actively contribute to nature conservation.
By planting thousands of nectar-rich plants, developing new bee colonies, and supporting beekeepers, this project restores life to nature every day and demonstrates that positive change is truly possible.

More than a project — an experience you can have
The OTPčelinjak is not just a project that exists in theory — it is a real, active part of our Bee Park. Visitors have the opportunity to see the hives, learn about the workings of the apiary, and experience firsthand what a project that actively contributes to nature conservation looks like.
By planting thousands of honey plants, developing new bee colonies, and supporting beekeepers, this project brings life back to nature every day and shows that positive change is possible.
Why is the project important?
Bees pollinate about 75% of the crops on which global food supplies depend. Climate change, pesticides, and diseases are causing their populations to decline. The project contributes to pollinator conservation and food security.
How does OTPčelinjak help beekeepers?
We donate bee colonies to beekeepers affected by die-offs and are developing a digital hive monitoring model that enables faster response and greater community resilience.
How do smart hives work?
The hives are equipped with sensors that monitor temperature, humidity, weight, and bee activity. The data is analyzed by an AI system, and the entire apiary is powered by solar energy.
Is the project aligned with ESG goals?
Yes. The project contributes to biodiversity conservation, regenerative agriculture, the local economy, and community education, thereby creating measurable social and environmental impact.
What are the specific results of the project?
The project delivers a measurable and documented impact:
Restoration of the bee population
- 100 new hives
- 300 nucs
- 10 million new pollinators
Biodiversity and food security
- 575 billion pollinated flowers
- Higher yields and a more resilient ecosystem
- Regeneration of the local environment
Support for beekeepers and the local economy
- 100 donated bee colonies
- 15,000 jars of Croatian honey distributed to partners
- 3 new jobs
Technology in service of nature
- Smart hives with sensors
- Real-time AI data analysis
- Solar power and energy independence
What are nuclei?
Nuclei are young, developed bee colonies with a selected queen, ready for further development in the apiary. They are used to replenish or expand bee colonies.
OTPčelinjak is not a symbolic initiative — it is a project with measurable results and a real contribution to nature, beekeepers, and the community.
